METHODIST CHURCH VIEWS

At a meeting of the Temperance and Public Morals Committee of the Methodist Church of New Zealand, called for the purpose of considering the Licensing Bill at present under consideration of Parliament, the following resolution was passed: "That we emphatically protest against: (a) the non-inclusion of a provision for a democratic vote on the main issues of Prohibition and Continuance; (b) tho provision to extend the time between the polls under the guise of a referendum, which would, if carried, .disfranchise about 65,000 first-time voters at the first poll after the proposal is carried; (c) the increased facilities for sale of liquor which are proposed in tho sections of the Bill dealing with Bostoration."
