INFECTIOUS DISEASES
A further decrease is shown in the cases of pneumonic influenza reported during the past week. The numbers are: —Auckland health district, 18 cases, 2 deaths; Wellington health district, C eases, 1 death; Canterbury-Westland-, 4 cases.
The detailed figures of notifications of infectious diseases in the various hospital districts within the Wellington health district for the past week are as follows (the numbers for the previous seven days being given in parentheses):—
Taranaki-Horowheuua: Scarlet fever, 2 (1); diphtheria, 11 (3); enteric fever, 1 (0); tuberculosis, 3 (1); pneumonic influenza, 1 (4) ;• erysipelas, 2 (0); pneumonia, 0 (3).
Wainivupa-East Cape: Scarlet fever, 1 (3); dipllheria, 9 (4); enteric fever, 0 (2); tuberculosis, 1 (0); pneumonia, 5 (2); pneumonic influenza, 2 (2); cerebro-spinal meningitis, 1 (0); ophthalmia neonatorum, 1 (0).
Central Wellington: Scarlet fever, 9 (17); diphtheria, 5 (5); pneumonia, 1 (5); pneumonic influenza, 1 (1); poliomyelitis, 1 (0); puerperal fever, 1 (0); tuberculosis, 0 (1); erysipelas, 0 (1).
Nelson-Marlborough: Diphtheria, 2 (0); enteric feveV, 1 (0); tuberculosis, 1 (0); pneumonia, 1 (0); pneumonic influenza, 2 (0).
