INTEREST WELL MAINTAINED,
Keen interest continues to be taken in the musical and elocutionary competitions at the Town Hall. This morning's tests included piano solo ' (reading at sight), boys'"song under 12, and vocal solo (reading at sight), The following awards were made:—
Piano Solo, reading at. sight (open to any amateur over 16). —Mr. L. PH. Muir (Lower Hutt) and Miss Alice Duff (Wellington), equal, 83 points, 1; Miss, Irene Taylor (Palmerston North), 82 points, 3. Highly commended: Miss Agnes Aim (Shannon). Vocal Solo, reading at sight (ladies). —Miss Florence Sumner (Dunedin), 77 points, 1; Miss Eileen Grennell (Christchurch), 74 points, 2; Mrs. N. Brown (Christchurch), 71 points, 3. Boys' Song (under 12), own selection.—Don Gamble (Karori), 82 points, t; Jackie Harris (Wellington), 80 points, 2; Roy Haggart (Wellington) and James Humphreys (Christchurck), equal, 76 points, 3.
Recitation, Wellington Competitions Society's Scholarship (girls 12 and under 16) (b); owe selection.—Recalls: Marjorie Dillon (Sydney), Queenie M'Lean (Wellington), Gracie Kerr (Wellington).
