EUROPE IN A MESS
LABOUR'S TASK TO CLEAR UP.
LONDON, 30th January. Mr. Ramsay MacDonald, speaking at Carlisle, on route to Edinburgh, said that the Government .'had inherited a great mess which it was its duty to clear up in accordance with Labour principl'es. Rome was not built in a day and Europe would not be cleared up in a. day. "I think we have made a good beginning," he said. "We were told when we came into office that whole of England was going to wrack and ruin. The mpre we have of such wrack and ruin as we have had during- the last few days the better it will be for England."
