PETONE COURT

The monthly sitting of the Petone Magistrate's Court was held yesterday, before Mr. C. R. Orr-Walker, S.M. . For allowing stock to wander on ,the public streets, Peter Sharpe, B. Starr, and Mrs. A. A. Jones were each fined 10s and 7s costs. '

For disobeying a maintenance order W. H. Rule was sentenced to two months' imprisonment, the warrant to be suspended so long as defendant pays 20s per week to Mary Rule. Judgment for plaintiff's by default was given in the following undefended civil cases:—T. Forsyth v. W. Martin, £4 5s and 23s 6d costs; W. L. Jenness v. T Stevens, 10s 6d and 10s costs; W. L Jenness v. E. Spider, £3 3s 6d and 23s 6d costs. -

Mrs. C. H. Smith (Mr. P. Jackson) proceeded against Miss 'Ivy P. Barrow (Mr. G. Findlay) to recover £122 10s 4d, alleged to be due on the sale of a confectionery and dressmaking business, and in the alternative, £120 damages for breach jOf contract. The defence alleged misrepresentation. After a partial hearing the case was' adjourned to the February sitting of the Court.
