; DUNEDIN, This Day. The weather was again fine and the wicket in splendid condition when play was resumed in the Otago-Wellington match. M'Girr and Brice went along quietly, taking no risks. The former was playing for his second century. Dickinson was not troubling them, and it was Alloo who brought about the separation at 428, Douglas taking Brice nicely at second slip. Nine runs later M'Girr repeated the ( stroke oS the same bowler, and was also held. Alloo finished th» innings by clean bowling White, after Henderson, had hit Douglas for- three fours and played a merry knock. Otago began the second innings with the impossible task of making 641 runs to_ win. ■ Shepherd and Worker began briskly, the former taking plenty of risks in making the pace, and 46 went up from five overs, in twenty minutes. Wellington's first innings score was 560, so that the total score of the side was 1025. < Otago scored 385. in the first innings. " Wisden's Annual " gives the record total for two innings :as 1095, made by Melbourne University against Essenden in 1897.
