CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT RESULTS.

PALMERSTON N., 21st Jan. The Dominion croquet tournament was continued to-day, when the semi-finals of the championship doubles were reached. A surprising feature of the play in this section was the severe defeat of J. S. M'Cullough and Mrs. Richardson (winners of the handicap doubles) at the hands of A. G. Ross and Mrs. Maddren (all of Canterbury). The final score was 26-1. Another surprise victory was that of N. P. Stratton and Mrs. Watkins (Hastings) over Rhodes Williams and Mrs. Clarke (Manawatu), by 28-0. The final to-morrow will thus be a contest between the North and South Islands. Following are additional results :—

Dominion Open Championship.—First round: M'Cullough defeated Miss Pegg, 2-0; -Mrs. Tiffen defeated Miss Anderson, 2-0; Stratton defeated Mrs. Jarvie, 2-0; Caughley defeated Mrs. Watkins, 2-0. Second round: M'Cullough degeated Mrs. Glass, 2-0; Ross defeated Caughley, 2-0. Ladies' Championship.—second round : Mrs. Glass defeated Mrs. Jarvie, 26-21; Mrs. Richardson defeated Mrs. Johnson, 26-24; Mrs. Brown won from Miss Anderson by defeault; Mrs. Hogan defeated Mrs. Carter. 26-21; Mrs. Maddren defeated Mrs.. Wicken. 26-1; Mrs. Tiffed defeated Mrs. Condell, 26-4: Mrs. Watkins defeated Mrs. Bull, 26-5. Third round: Mrs. Frost defeated Miss Brami, 26-16.

Championship Doubles.—Second round : Stratton and Mrs. Watkins defeated Rhodes Williams and Mrs. Clarke, 26-0. Semi-final: Ross and Mrs. Maddren defeated J. M. Claque and Mrs. Norris, 26-14; Stratton and Mrs. Watkins defeated Murray arid Mrs. Tiffen, 26-13. Handicap Singles.—Second round: Mrs. Hogan defeated M'Cullough, 26-15. Third round: Miss -Blake defeated Mrs. Ball, 22-21; Mrs. Kenyon defeated Mrs. Given, 24-23; Mrs. Pinkney defeated Mrs. Frost, 26-21; Stratton defeated Mrs. Jarvie, 26-8; Mrs. Maddren defeated Mrs. Spring. 26-12. Fourth round : Miss Blake won from Mrs. Kenyon, 26-12.
