LONDON EGG MARKET.

Mr. J. B. Merrett, of Christchurch, who personally saw to the distribution of shipments of specially-selected New Zealand eggs in the London market, reports:—"On opening up several cases of the New Zealand shipment'the,;eggs proved to be in excellent condition. I made an effort to open the market at 20s, but could effect' no sales. Best English new laids were 28s to 30s, best DanJsh 26s to 2Ss. On examining the Danish .eggs I found them to be much inferior to bur own, and demonstrated that fact to buyers. The Danish eggs were . stale, and had evidently been held several weeks. They showed signs of considerable shrinkage. Still, the Danes have the name, and it takes some argument to convince people of the quality of our .eggs that come from so great a distance. I spread serciil cases for samples, and got some -excellent reports. One buyer took 200 dosen, tried them out, and then bought 6000, but, fearing lest the quality would become impaired, and, finding that Australians were selling as low as 19s. I decided to quit Tit 225. I succeeded, with the help of. my agents, in quitting soma at, 245, and during the' present week the ' balance will be sold round about that figure."
