WALLACE STREET CAR LINE
COUNCILLORS TO INSPECT . NEXT
WEEK.
Referring to the Wallace street tramway extension proposals this morning, 'the Mayor (Mr. 11. A. Wright) informed a " Post ", reporter that the position was that when the council arrived at its decision to carry the car lines on along Wallace street, and on tj John street and Adelaide road, preparations were made for the prosecution of the work, rails were carted out, and so on, but following upon that came the question whether a better route could not be had. The proposed route was reported, upon tp the council, and it was then decided to inquire fully into the"further proposal. "For my part," added Mr. Wright, " I was against the work being ,'held up any longer,' and a motion that the councillors should view the new route Was carried by 15 votes to one, mine being ■'the, only vote against it. Arrangements have been made for the councillors to inspect the proposed new route, and generally to go over the ground on the spot one day next, week;"
