RATES FOR THE YEAR
INCREASES IN WATER AND
GENERAL
MEETING INTEREST AND SINKING FUND.
An increase of from 2£- per cent, to 4 per cent, on annual value has been decided upon by the City Council in respect of the city's waterwork schemes, and the general rate has gone up from 2 81-100fl to 3d. The library and hospital rates remain the same, but special rates are to be struck to meet outgoings for interest and sinking fund on the antecedent liability and unemployment relief loan. , The schedule of rates for the ensuing year as approved by the City Council last evening is as follows:-— General rate 3d, producing £183,893. Library rate 14-200 d, producing £4290. Water rato 4 per cent, on annual value, producing £56,948. ■ Hospital and Charitable Aid rate, 4id on annual value, producing £33,775. Street lighting rate, 1 i-6d on aunual value, producing £8756. ; SPECIAL RATES. Whole city: Antecedent liability loan, interest, etc., 'SO-SCOd, £15,324; unemployment relief loan interest 3-200dj £780. • .
