UNWELCOME WEATHER
Another doubtful outlook,'with a little rain, has given rise to some doubt about reasonably good weather conditions lasting for tlie remainder of Welcome Week, bni- it was made brighter early this afternoon by the reappearance of sunshine. To. the Director of the Meteorological Office the dullness to-day is apparently of more moment than the rays of sunshine, as lie states that the milder weather is regarded as the forerunner of. a general change for unfavourable conditions. . The storm area which has been referred to during the past two days as developing on the Tasman Sea was. encountered by the Ma'unganui on that vessel's trip across to Sydney. Mr. Bates states to-day that the storm area is still apparently on the ocean, and the only sign of it in New Zealand is. increasing cloud- and haziness, as forecasted yesterday, in nearly all parts: of the Dominion. The weather, warning to-day is for unsettled and cloudy conditions, with rain following in most parts of the country. Strong easterly winds are predicted, together with rough seas and a general fall in the barometer, more particularly in the North.
