There are in the Dominion 139 public motor services in connectionwith the railways, run by private enterprise, and 334 motor mail services whilst the Post and Telegraph ■ Department owns between 300 and 400 motor vehicles for the collection of mails, etc., and most of the Government Departments own numbers of motor-cars for different Purpose;.. Motor engineering has also developed to such an extent as to' have become quite an important industry.
