MR. WINTOUR'S CONTRACT

LONDON. 7th July The "Pall Mall Gazette" interviewed Sir James Allen, who said; "The agreement -with Mr. Wintour was entered into before I came on the scene. I had no part in it. If I commented on it my comments would be rather severe. We have since exemined the agreement, and found it quite legal, hence we have undertaken it* ratification.

"Under the provisions of the agreement Mr. Wintour enjoyed extraordinary powers. I say 'extraordinary,' and will leave it at that. As for compensation, Mr. Wintour asked for" much more than he filially got. The board acted in the best interest of the Exhibition.".

Mr. TJ. F. Wintour. recently rerinfinished the post of general manager of tho Empire Exhibition, and took the post of adviser to the board. Sir James Allen stated at the time that the conditions under which Mr. Wintour was manajjai^ aiii Sir Travers Clarke executive administrator became unworkable. Mr. "Wintour'a total compensation was £14,000.
