The Stipendiary Magistrate (Mr. S. L. P. Free) has reserved his decision in a case in which the Public Trustee, in the estate of Ernest George Squires, a deceased soldier, claims from Olive Witton, _ sum of £37 9s, being allotment money received by her. The evidence showed .that Miss Witton was engaged to be married to Squires, and that he had appointed her his next-of-kin. A will was, however, made by tho soldier in favour of Ms mother.
At the general meeting of the Wellington Returned Soldiers' Association, which is to be held in tho club on Monday next' at 7.30 p.m., members will havo an opportunity of hearing the District Organiser, Lieut.-Col. Mitchell. Other business to be transacted includes the election of vicechairman, and also one member of the committee.
"Foundation Principles of Socialism" is the titlo of an address to be delivered by Mr. H. E. Holland, M.P., at Alexandra Hall, to-morrow evening.
