CHARGE AGAINST A PROHIBITION LECTURER

(BI TELEQRAPH.— I'BESS .ASSOCIATION.)

NAPIER, This Day. A case is being heard before justices in which Richard White is proceeding against W. D. 'Bailey, Prohibition lecturer, for using alleged insulting language. The action arose out of a row at a Prohibition meeting at Port Ahuriri on 6th April.. White, who was employed as a clerk by the licensed victuallers, was asking questions, and it is alleged that Bailey said to him: " You are a traitor if you work for such an infamous traffic. You are unfit to wear the King's uniform. You are a scoundrel." Thereupon the crowd took to Bailey, who drove off in a motor-car.

The case is proceeding.
