SUGGESTED PROVISION FOR
BURSARIES.

CHRISTCHURCH, 4th June.
A deputation from the Christchurch Technical College Board of Governors waited on the Hon. J., A. Hanan'to-day and lisked him to make provision for home science bursaries tenable at the Christchurch Technical College and Canterbury College. It wa_. urged that the same scientific instruction -given at Otago University could be given in Ohristchurch. •
Mr. . Hanan replied that he did not think it desirable to take the step suggested, as it would tend to undermine the principle of specialisation. In view of the acceptance of a Chair of Home Science by Otago University, Sir. Hanan said he did not. like to take any. steps that would interfere with arrangemententered into with the Otago University.
