HUTT HOTELS

MEETING OF LICENSING COMMITTEE.

Tho annual meeting of the Hutt Licensing Committee was'held to-day, Mr. W. G. Riddell presided, and others present were: Messrs. J. W. M'Ewan, J. Cotton, M. W. Welch, W. Wearne, and W. Cotton. The following transfers were granted: [ Victoria Hotel, Petone, J. S. Vial to Myra Campbell; Taita Hotel, M. Campbell to Mary A. Burns; Railway Hotel, Lower Hutt, B. Perkins to Arthur T. Gatrell; Family Hotel. Lower Hutt, A. E. Glensor to R. C. Reid. New licenses were granted as follow: R. I. Low, Trentham Hotel; H. E. Gatrell, Railway Hotel; R. C. Reid, Family Hotel; Myra Campbell, Victoria Hotel. In the case of an application from M. A. Burns for a .iconse for tho _ Taite Hotel, the police raised an objection, stating that tho conduct of the hotel was not satisfactory. Mr. T. Voting, who appeared for the applicant, stated that the police should ! bring definite, and not vague, charges as regards after-hour and Sunday trading. The Bench adjourned the case for ono month, in order that a pending transfer may take place. Renewals were granted as follow: —F. L. Simpson. Central Hotel, Lower Hutt; Mary E. Young, Provincial Hotel; W. St. Leger, Bellevue Hotel, and 11. J. Palmer, Empire Hotel. Harriet Maddock applied for a renewal of her license for the Central Hotel, Petone, and the case was adjourned for one month. Miss E. M. Richardson applied for a license for the Grand National Hotel,.as administratrix in the estate of G. Richardson, deceased. The .Bench stated it was impossible tp grant a license to an unmarried woman, and the application ; would be adjourned for three months. j Andrew Y. Lees was granted a renewj al of his wholesale license.
