Lady Olwyn, Haeremoana, Multiplex, ..Chattanooga, Tunatau, Dainty otep, ldeaiogue, and Ben Bolt were withdrawn from the Maiden Race, leaving nine .aimers,.of whom Festival 'was made favourite. Moutoa Boy got the best of the start and made play lor a couple of furlongs, when festival took charge and carried on just ahead of Hautawa to the home turn, where the former appeared to he having all the best of it. Halfway up the straight Achilliou and Kyto ranged alongside the leaders, and in a bumping, finish -the latter won by a neck from -'estival. Achillion was close up third, and Hautawa fourth I There was a good field in the Flying ! Hack Kace, of six iuriongs, for which March On, Lady l__.wo.t_, Occasion, iisperauce, Prince Formby, Stutter, and Pervolo declined their engagements. Tari was a good favourite, Black Mark being next choice. There was some delay at the post, but the field eventually moved off in good liile. Tonukohe ran to the front at- the start, and carried on well -clear of the held till the home turn was reached, where Tari and Black Mark ran up to him. » A bit further on Idle Talk joined .issue, and in a, good race to the post won by a head from Tari, who was well clear of Black Mark and Tonukohe. This made Mr. Barrett's second win in succession. Paul Moore, Happy Jack, Tornea, and Jem wero withdrawn from the Taihoa Steeplechase, for which Master Webster was favourite. It was a bad start, from which Gang Awa' went to the front and showed the way over the first fence, where Sail Home fell. Going round the back Master Webster ran close ,up to Gang' Awa', but ran off at the next fence, Kingston Boy doing likewise. The latter was pulled up soon after, but the boy on Master Webster kept going. When they passed the stand the second I time round Gang Awa' was still in front, with Master Webster on . his quarters. These two ran neck and neck for the rest of the journey, with Gwynne fast making up his ground. There was a good finish all the way up the straight, but the black horse just managed to snatch the victory by a head from Master who was subsequently disqualified for running round a fence. Gwynne was awarded second money, and Kurapai, who finished fourth, third. .The latter broke a blood vessel during the race and pulled up in a bad way. All started in the Baukawa Cup, for which Marqueteur was a solid favourite. As they passed the stand the first time round Bose Pink was in the lead from Battle Song and Pacific .Slope. The little mare lost her place going out of the straight, and gave way to Battle Song, who was displaced shortly after by Volo. At tho half-mile post Volo was well in front, and looked all over a winner. At the bend he was still in front. The field closed up halfway up the straight. Volo's rider was compelled to draw his whip to stall off challenges from Battle Song, Pacific Slope, and Marqueteur, but).,managed to keep them all off, and won a good race by a head from Battle Song, with Pacific Slope a neck away third, and Marqueteur fourth. Railand, May Morn, and Justification i were the non-starters in the Otaki Hack, for which Pretty Bobby was backed down to a very short price. White Ranger made tho pace a, cracker from she start and led to the bottom of the straight, where Pretty Bobby "caught ! him and appeared to have tho race well i in hand, until Momac cam. up on the inside and beat him by three-parts of a i length. Transmission was a head away third and White Ranger fourth. Comment, Hastie, Sir Agnes, Hyginas, Moutoa Ivanova, Wonder, and Vascovia wero among the missing when the numbers went up for the Taipua Handicap, for which Torfreda was a decided favourite. The start was a very straggling one, from which the favourite was the first to chow out. When' they had gone half the distance Torfreda v.as still out in front, with Astinome, Play OIF, and Lady General as her nearest atendants. Astinome was first into tho straight and looked to be a. winner until Lady General camo with a well-timed, run on the outside and beat her by a head. Oratress, who came with a Tattle over the last bit, was third, and Potentiality fourth. There wao a round dozen in the last race, the Birthday Welter, Transmission, Beloved, and Warmth, who had started earlier in the day, being withdrawn. Glentour was mado favourite. Toddy was first out, and led to the home turn from Sacramento and Glentour.
