PROTEST AGAINST THE TREATY
LABOUR LEADERS' MANIFESTO
VIOLATION OF PLEDGES.
(UNITED PHEKS ASSOCIATION.—COPYRICIHT.i (AOSTBAMAN-NBW ZEALAND CABLE ASSOCIATION.) LONDON, 21st May (delayed). Thirty-three Labour leaders have signed a manifesto protesting against a Peace Treaty drawn up secretly by Ministers of a few of the Great Powers. The Treaty violated tho Government's pledges, particularly Mr Lloyd George's pledges, to Labour on sth January. It is further urged that the Treaty does not recognise the change, following on the German revolution, which has resulted in the establishment of a social democracy. The Treaty contains germs o£ new conflicts, creates conditions of unrest and injustice, which must make the Loague of Nations, if it survives, merely an instrument of Imperialism.
