REQUESTS FROM POHANGINA

A deputation from the Pohangina County Council, introduced by Mr. D\ J. Guthrie, jVI.P., waited on the Acting' Minister for Finance (the Hon. W. Fraser) yesterday, and enquired about grants, which had been provisionally approved by the State Advances Department, of £750 for the Piripiri Ford bridge and £600 for the Diggers' Creek bridge. The Minister said that as soon as money Hvas available no doubt the application would receive favourable consideration. Tlie deputation" also waited on the > Prime Minister in his capacity as Minister for Lands and asked permission to obtain totara timber from a reserve near the site of the bridges for use in connection with their construction. The Hon. W. F. Massey replied that he would have a report , prepared on the subject and let Mr. Guthrie know his decision.
