AUSTRALIA AND CANADA
TRADE- RECIPROCITY. (From Our Own Correspondent.) SYDNEY, Bth February. The Australian' exporters who have been agitating for reciprocity between the Commonwealth and , Canada, to enable- them to compete with New Zealand on equal terms,- have been assured by members of- the Gdverntnent that if they will only be patient there is every prospect of an agreement • being concluded in a few months' time. A communication has been received by tho Minister' for Customs (Mr. Tudor) Irom Mr. Foster (Minister for Commerce in the Canadian Government) with reference to the subject. Mr. Foster says that ho is leaving Vancouver for Auckland on' 19th February in order to attend the sittings of the Imperial Trado Commission,' of which • he is a member. He' will come 1 with the Commission to Australia about the end of March, and hopes then ta#be able to confer with Mr. Tudor- on the subject of trade reciprocity. ' When the Commission has completed its business in Australia he says that he will be able to devote his attention exclusively to the question of preference.
