SHORTT'S THEATRE
Shortt's Picture Theatre held large gatherings of interested picture-show fre-, tjuenters yesterday afternoon and even- j ing. "A Cruel Fate" was the star item in a very well selected programme. The wife of the hero is accused, on slender evidence, of the murder of her maid and is arrested and imprisoned. Then the' prison catches fire, and > the .authorities, believe that the wife is among those that have perished irt the flames. She has not, however, but has escaped' to her husband's house. When she thinks to rest in quiet her hiding place is revealed and she is again arrested ; but, just in the nick of time, a doctor arrives with a confession from the real murderer who- has been killed. Other pictures in the programme are "Forbidden Love" (Western' drama), "A Motor Sea Boat," ;'Taking Care of Baby," and "A Mistake in Spelling."
