THE LONDON NEWS
REPETITION OF CHRISTCHURCB, MESSAGE. (BY TELEC&APfI— MU3SB ASSOCIATION.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. A Very painful sensation was caused here when the London message came through concerning the loss of the southern party consisting of Captain Scott, Dr. Wilson, Captain Oates, Petty-Officer Evans, and Lieutenant Bowers. Application was immediately made to Mr. J. Kinsey, New Zealand agent for the expedition, for confirmation of the London message. Mr. Kinsey wbb, however, unable to add details. Themes*e mes* sage received from London, he said, was a repetition of one he had himself sent. A further message should shortly be in the hands of New Zealand newspapers, but all information at this stage would have to come through London. It is understood that Mrs. Wilson haß been some time in New Zoaland awaiting her husband's return. Mrs. Scott is now on her way from San Francisco. The early return of the Terra Nova yesterday caused much speculation. It was known that Captain Scott's plahs involved full utilisation of the summer months in Antarctica, and the Terra Nova consequently wrb expected late in March. There was a very general suggestion that the early return was due to some disaster. Lieut. Pehnell is staying with Mr. Kinsey, , and is anxious to remain in seclußion._ Mr. Kinsey spent an arduous sleepless night. When seen this morning he had a pile of cablegrams on his desk. He was unable to see people who were anxious for details of tho disaster.
