CONCERT AND LECTURE AT LOWER HUTT.

A concert and lecture in aid of the Hutt District High School picnic/ and prize fund were given at the King George Theatre, Lower Hutt, on Fridajr. The hall was well filled with an audience which thoroughly appreciated the interesting lecture and the excellent Concert .programme provided. The lecturer, Mr. W. H. Russell, spoke most interestingly y on "America and Ganada," illustrating his address with lantern views. Mr. Baldwin introduced the lecturer, who Was wafmly applauded on the conclusion of his remarks. The remainder of the programme consisted of vocal and elocutionary items contributed to by thfe following : — Miss Parsons and Messrs. E. J. Hill, J. C. Bell, and J. Wray. The fund is expected to benefit to the extent of about £10.
