James Ronald has issued a writ against Robert Harper, claiming £10,000 damages for fraudulently procuring a verdict in the action Itonald Versus Harper, hoard in May, 1909. [The Bey. John Black Ronald, Pres- . byterian minister and ex-member of Parliament, sued Mr. Robert Harper, M.P.j an elder of tho same church, claiming £3000 damages for alleged slander and libel. The special damages mentioned were £700 as loss of Btipend, fees, and house rent for a year and nine months. Tho allegations wert that defendant had accused nltdntiff of telling indecent stories in Parliament House. The defence was a general denial of the statements, and it wag pleaded that if they were uttered and published it wag on a {.tivileged occasion, and that they were uttered bona fide' and without malice.
