VICEREGAL. Captain Hutton, aide-de-camp to Lord Liverpool, has arrived at Sydney, says a Press Association message. The Hon. R. H. Rhodes will leave tomorrow for Mount Cook and Hanmer. The Hon. W. H. Herries will return from the Manawatu district this evening. The Hon. F. M. B. Fisher is on the West Coast. Other} Cabinet Ministers are in Wellington. The Yen. Archdeacon H. Stoeker, Chaplain to the Forces, has been granted the Colonial Auxiliary Forces' long-service medal. He has nearly thirty years' service. Lieutenant-Colonel G. C B. Wolfe, of the New Zealand Staff Corps, has been transferred to the Reserve of Officers, and appointed inspector of tine clubs, drill halls, and rifle ranges. The Rev. J. Clark and Pastor C. W. Duncumb (Baptist) and Adjutant Edwin Brown (Salvation Army) are gazetted officiating ministers under the Marriage Act. The City Council last night, on the motion of the Mayor, passed a vote of condolence with the Town Clerk (Mr. J. R. Palmer) and Mrs. Palmer on the death of their daughter. Mr. A. Carr, for several years manager of the State Poultry Farm at Milton, has been transfered to Wellington for duty in connection with the Def/artment of Agriculture. Captain Hennah, custodian and fire inspector of the Government Buildings, has been appointed inspector of weights and measure's at Wellington, in succession to the late Constable Greer Mi*. A. D. Kennedy, who was. elected last, Wednesday to a' vaqancy on the Hutt River Board, was at last night's meeting of the board welcomed to the board table by the chairman (Mr, Baldwin),' and congratulated on his election. On the eve of his return to Sydney, Mr. W, B. Parrie, of the Empress Theatre staff, was entertained last night by hii colleagues. Mr. J. El.E 1 . Kussell. on t oii\( of * the employees of the Empi'ess, presented Mr. Parrie with a handsome' marble clock as a souvenir. Dr. R. A. Cameron, who is leaving for England on a visit, was granted j leave 6f absence last evening by the City Council. The Mayor (Mr. D. M'Laren) wished Dr. Cameron bon voyage and success, and the departing councillor expressed the hope that all his fellowcoUncillors would stand for re-election. In his absence abroad he would do his best to gather all information of interest to tho City Council. Mr, C. H- Howorth, Engineer to the Wanganui Harbour Board, leaves by the Manuka this afternoon on an extensive trip to Europe. He will, during his absence, study harbour problems in various parts of the world, with a view to applying the lessons learnt to the proposed deep-sea harbour at Wanganui. Mr. C. B. Howorth, of the Wellington Harbour Board's engineering staff, is accompanying him. ' Owing to departmental reasons, Mr. Horace Stebbing, of the Lands Department, and heacf of the Scout movement in' Auckland, has been forced to resign his position as District Commander of Scouts. The appointment of Mr. Stebbing's successor as district commander has not yet been settled. It is in the hands of Colonel Cossgrovej of Christchurch, who is Qhief Scout Commander for New ' Zealand. Mr, Reynolds Denniston, well known in theatrical circles, who was at one time seriously ill, arrived in Wellington yesterday from Dunedin, where he has been recruiting his health. He will leave for Australia by the Manuka this evening for the purpose, of entering into partnership with Mr, Hugh^Buckler m, controlling a Repertory Theatre which is about to be established in Sydney. Mrs. Denniston is accompanying her husband.
