CONFERENCE AT WANGANUJ. (IT? TELEGBAPa—PRESS ASSOCIATION.) WANGANUI, 6th February.-, A conference of visitihg delegates from centres represented at the New Zealand Swimming Championships Meeting was held ■ this morning. Mr. F. Turnbull presided. The delegates present were : Messrs. J. T. Hannay and B. Woods (Hawkes Bay), D. M'Farlane '(Wanganui), S. Rich and Eldridge (Canterbury), Atkins and Shields (Wellington), Stone and Emmerson (Nelson), und Dickie and Thorpe (Auckland). My. Atkins moved : "That it be a recommendation to the council to adopt the .recommendations, made by the conferences with modifications (it any), but not with regard to financial matters."— Carried. Mr. Rich moved: "That it be a re commendation to the council that the championships be. allotted to the aflilia-, ted centres in rotation, always rescrv- ' ing the right to allot to tho Otago Centre the championships when that centre has a_ bath, to conduct -the meeting."—Carried. , , '; Mr., G. Rich moved: "That it be a, recommendation to -the New Zealand Swimming Association, when calling for tenders for medals to do so in accordance with the rules." Delegates expressed the opinion that, if the Nrw Zealand Council offered a medal and act its value down at £2 3m, the medal should' be- worth that amount. Mr. Atkins moved : "That the Wellington Centre enters its protest against Northern Uhion footballers (playing under that game as at present constituted in New Zealand) competing as amateur swimmers." The motion was lost by six to five. Tho matter of tho secretary's honorarium was raised by Mr. Atkins, who strongly protested against the council's paying a honorarium of £15 to the secretary. Discussion ensued as to whether the secretary was a professional in being paid £15, and the chairman gave it as his opinion that\ "honorarium" did not make a professional of the secretary. Mr. Rich moved : "That it be a suggestion to the council to invite suggestions from the various centres relative to the advisability of sending a team to

Australia." The motion we? carrief unanimously. It was resolved that the ladies' standard for the 100 yards be 86scc.
