LETTERPRESS PRINTERS
The annual meeting of the Wellington Letterpress Printers, Lithographers, and Paper Cutters' Union was held in the Trades Hall on Saturday night, Mr. HT. Withington (vice-president) in the chair. The rej-ort expressed satisfaction at the obtaining of a Dominion award, and also at the ' amalgamation of the various trades in Christclinrch. The importance of a New Zealand federation was stressed by tho Board of Management, which also deplored the death of Mr. A. J, Walsfy an officer of the union, whose services in the ciuse of unionism it eulogised. The financial statement showed 3 credit balance ot' J8196 11s Bd. 'The leport and balance-sheet were adopted and all tho retiring officers were reelected. It ".v-ts decided that the union should bo ri'ptuseuted at future labour conferences. .Reports were read from the Federation relating to the Rotary machinists and stereoiypers, intimating that their case would, in all probability, be' heard in February by the Conciliation Council, and that the Wellington stereotypers Were aakeel to be represented.
