MAGISTRATE'S COURT

♦ i Before Dr. M'Arthur, S.M., afc the Magistrate's Court to-day, William Sullivan, for drunkenness, was .sent to gaol for one month. He had been five times convicted in six months. Roderick M'Leod Chester, who resisted the police whilst being arrested for insobriety, was fined 40s, with the option of going to gaol for two Weeks. William Brew Campbell was similarly mulcted for indecency. Benjamin Church, who deserted from the Athenic on 24th January _ last, was sentenced to one month's imprisonment. At the Mount Cook Police Court this morning, before Mr. T. Bland, J.P., Norman Campbell anck Evelyn Butler, charged with drunkenness, were fined 40s each, or seven days' imprisonment. One first offender was convicted and discharged.
