= i A small single truck "palace" cm, No. 82, is near completion in the tramway workshops at Newtown. It is intended for the Wadestown line. Other cars are contemplated, but trucks ordered some time ago have not yeb arrived. This has delayed the transformation of i the box cars into combination type cars. I A specially-designed freight car is almost ready for the road. Lieutenant-Colonel Hughes, who will command the New Zealand rifle team at Bisley, left to-day by the express for Wellington (says a Press Association telegram) to join the Ruapehu, leaving on' Friday. Last night LieutenantColonel Hughes was far-ewelled by the local GaTrison officers, congratulated on the honour conferred on him. and presented with a handsome souvenir. Mrs. Hughes accompanies him. The designations of the following teachers have been accepted by the Wellington. Education Board : — Misses E. Thompson (assistant, Kaiparoro), J. Ban-stow (assistant. South Wellington), j M. Pl. Sullivan, (relieving staff), G. Nannestad (relieving staff), and Mr. F. ■ Morgan (secondary assistant, Carterton). \ Messrs. T.
