MASTERTON MATTERS.
[BX TBLEGEAPH — SPECIAL TO TUB POST.] MASTERTON, 22nd April. The population of the Te Whiti riding of the Masterton county is shown by the census to total 492. A meeting of the Masterton Amateur Theatrical Society was held last evening. Mr. C 4. C. Branson was 'appointed secretary and director. The, wet weather prevented a large attendance, and consequently the consideration of a number of important matteTG was held over. The weekly parade of the Maeterton Rifies was held last m'ght, after which the trophies won during the shooting season were presented by Lieut. Haslam. Colour-Sbrgeant H. Perry, who has severed his connection with the corps, was appointed a life member, appreciative referenca being made to his pasl services by Lieut. Haslam. The Council of the Masterton Chamber of Commerce has appointed a sub-com-mittee to consider what further action should be taken .to obtain the Rimutaka deviation.
