THE JAPANESE ANTARCTIC EXPEDITION.
LETTER FROM THE MANAGER. The chairman of the Harbour Board (Mr. R. Fletcher) has received the following; letter from Japan, drfted Tokio, 27th February: — "Sir, — Permit us to tender you our best thanks on learning by our Lieut. Shirase's telegraphic communication that you were kind enough to render him and his party much favour when they arrived at your port. The Kainan Maru, the ship for tho party, will return to your port again after she takes Lieut. Shirase and the landing party to the Antarctic region. "We shall be greatly obliged if you will kindly give Captain Nomura or chief mate of the ship the letters and newspapers under separate cover on his arrival again at your port. Mr. George F Wyatt, treasurer of the British Antarctic Expedition, 1910, came to Tokio at the end of January, on his way to England. We talked with him at the residence of Count Okuma, president of our expedition. Wishing for your health and success, lespectfully yours, S.
