A COLD NIGHT.
There were mists and fogs everywhere last night, and Wellington experienced its first nip of winter. The autumn has been exceptionally mild, Wellington revelling in a feast of fine weather,i with little rain, a fact no doubt much appreciated by the town dweller, but of much alarm to the farmer, who has been eyeing 'his wintei* feed with some concern. The cold snap of yestereve was followed by a foggy morning, but the mists were soon dispelled, and Wellington has enjoyed a day gloriously autumnal. The barometer is a falling one, and the prospects are for rain in the north, with unsettled weather elsewhere.
