SPIRITUALISTS' CONVENTION-
DUNEDIN, 13th April. The fifth annual convention of the National Association of Spiritualists •was opened in Dunedin to-night, and the evening was devoted to a welcome to delegates and to the deliverance of a number of addresses. There was a very good attendance, and Mr. Gibb, president of the Dunedin society, -presided. Among the speakers were Mr. Schultze (Victoria), Mrs. Steinemann (New South Wales), Mrs. Harris Roberts (Auckland), and Messrs W. C. Nation, president cf the National Association of Spiritualists, C. Champness, j vice-president, W. M'Lsan, president of the Wellington Association, and J. .Wilson, of the English National Unionof Spiritualists. Mrs. Steinemann gave a medium demonstration. DUNEDIX, 14th April. _ Tha convention was continued this morning, some twenty delegates and a large number of visitors being present from various parts of the Dominion. Mr. W. C. Nation read a paper reviewing the general progress and ad-
vahce of Spiritualism. The following officers were _ elected : — President, Mr. W. C. Nation ; vice-presidents, Messrs. C. J. Champness, W. M'Lean; secretary, Mrs. W. E. Moore; treasurer, Mr. W. T. M'Nicholl; trustees, Messrs. G. D. Gibbs and F. O'Neill. A discussion was opened in the afternoon by Mr. M'Lean on the propesed Bill having for its object State" recognition of Spiritualists and the protection of genuine mediums by the suppression of quacks.
