Melrose Drainage.— Amount £100,000., Expended to 3lgt March, 1911 : Hose, neath, £6500; Kelburne, £4481,- Brook- [ lyn, £13,299; Island Bay, £17,022 j I Wadestown and Northland (including survey), £-186; Kilbirnie, £16,163) Vogeltown, £775; Mitchelltowu and Taitville, £636; deferred payments, £1680; general expenses, £3483, lesa credits £933 ; net total, £64,498 : un, expended balance, £35,502. Wadestown and Northland Watersupply.—Amount raised, £22,550; expenditure—Northland £6815, Wadestown £4269 ; total, £11,085 : balance, £11,465. Mr. Morton adds that the Northland scheme is practically corn-* pleto. Sufficient miroey has been lefti to purchase a duplicate pump for tha Kelburno pump station when required. The Wadestown scheme is in progress, and the supply of pipes for the reservoir: and reticulation is available. In the case of this high-level rcstervoir, as im those of the Roseneath and Melrosa districts, the no-n-arrival of the pumps is the source of delay. Waterworks Loan.— Amount (raieect in 1904) £190,000 ; expenditure to date, £149,853, lesa credits £177; net expenditure, £149,676; leaving £42,664 still unexpended. A considerably greater amount of work than wa3 provided for has been undertaken by tfie continual extension of the mains into streets not contemplated when the loan was raised. Under this heading comes the new Hutt River Bridge, £13,908, and £38,, 968 for the Wadnui-o-mata dam. Mr. Morton mentions tho difficulty with the defect in the cut-ofi 1 wall of the dam, and tho fact that a certain amount of money is returnable from the Peton« Borough Council oil the former item. Public Conveniences. — Amount, £3000; - expenditure, Lambton-quav £1540, Oriental Bay £187; Courtenayplace £65, Taranaki-place £510 : total, £2302. The contract price of the new convenience is £810. Street-widening of Willis-street.-— fix* penditure, £1671. Charlotte-street Loop. — Amount raia* e4, £2000; net expenditure, £867: bah laaice £1133. Wadestown Tramway. — Amount, £33,000; expended to date, £21,197; balance for completion of work, £11,803. Abattoirs. — Contract for 'extension! £1726; expenditure to date, £1073 j balance due to contractor, £805.
