OUTBREAK IN TEXTILE CO.'S PREMISES.
DAMAGE ESTIMATED AT £3500. Another fir* involving considerable damage occurred in the city shortly after six o'clock this evening, in premises occupied by Messrs. Joyce Bros., carrying on business as the 'Textile, Bag and Sack Company, with headquarters at Christchurch. The men were working on the premises at the time, and it is assumed that the fire was caused by some fluff coming in contact with a lighted candle. The fire spread with amazing rapidity, and considerable damage was done to the building, stock, and machinery before it was got under. The building ia owned by Joyce Bros. It is impossible to estimate the damage at present, but the whole will probably exceed £3500. The property is covered by a policy in the Queensland office, but the amount is not aecertainable.
