A fire occurred here on Monday night, when a building on property leased by Mr. Wm. Buckeridge was destroyed. The loss was not a 'serious one. A public holiday will be -observed here -on Saturday (except that shops will be open, for a few hours) as well as on Good t Friday and Easter Monday. The balance-sheet for the past year, submitted at the monthly meeting of the Town. Board k to-night, shows the receipts for the year to have been £1075 6s lid, and -expenditure £999 14s Hd, leaving a credit balance of £75 6s. The election of two representatives irom the Wairarapa and Forty Mile iJush districts to the Wellington Harbour Board is causing but little interest. To dale only one candidate has been, .nominated.
