DESERTER'S TRAGIC FATE.
AUCKLAND, 11th April. Afc Rawene (Hokianga Harbour) two seamen made a determined attempt to desert from the Norwegian barque Lindetol, when she was lying at anchor early this morning. One of the men was evidently a strong swimmer, and arranged to tow the other ashore. On this somewhat risky task the two men set out, but the- second man could not keep himself afloat, and he was drowned. Th© swimmer towed the dead body of his comrade ashore and reported what had occurred. ••
