LAWN TENNIS.
ELECTRIC LIGHT TOURNAMENT. The Brougham Hill Tennis Club held its second electric light plain and tkney dress tournament last night. The competitors were all in-fancy costumes, Miss Pearson in a harem skirt- leading the way, whilst L. G. Butcher kept all at bay as a wild Scotchman. The Evening Post (Mrs. Ralph) and the "Supplement" (Master Ralph) caused general merriment. The play started at 7.30, ttnd concluded at 11 p.m., when Mr. G. W. Goldie presented tho prizes won. Cheers were" given for the winners, Mr. Howe (the promoter of the tournament), and the vice-president (Air. G. W. Goldie). Following are the results : — Gentlemen's prize, L. G. Butcher; ladies' prize, Miss Pearson (harem skirt); winners of tournament, Miss W. Davis and H. Arden. First round : Mrs. Sampson and Butcher beat Miss Ordlcy and Parker, 16— 14; Miss Archer and.Rawnslev beat Mr*. Burton and H. Howe, 15—4"; Miss W. Davis and Arden beat Miss Brown and Jcffory, 15—13; Miss Pearson and W. E. Howe beat Miss Da.re,and Hurley, 15— 13 ; Mrs. Goldie and Lawrence beat Miss Bowley and Williams, 15—10; Miss Mack and Eller bsat Miss 'L'ingey and Joseph, 16—14; 'Miss Gray and Reeves beal, Mrs. How© and Smith, 17—16 ; Miss Alcorn and Marroy beat Miss Plummer alid Townsend, 15—12; Miss Cornish and Armstrong beat Miss Carter and Maxriner, 15—12; Miss Mewkin and Keen beat Miss Williams and Laishley, li>— B; Miss Hayes and Quinnell beat Miss Sullivan and Townsend, 15—13; Miss Rothschild and Sampson beat Mrs. Howe and Lambert, 15 — 12. , Second round : Mrs. Sampson and Butcher beat Miss Archer and Rawnsley, 15—13 ; Miss W. Davis and Arden beat Miss Pearson and Howe, 15—11 ; Miss Mack and Eller beat Mrs. Goldie and Lawrence, 15—11 ; Miss Gray and beat Miss Alcorn and Marroy, 15 — 16; Miss Cornish and Armstrong* beat Miss Mewkin and Keen, 15—13; Miss Hayes and Quinnell beat Miss Rothschild and Sampson, 15 — 13. Third round : Miss W. Davis and Arden beat Mrs. Sampson and Butcher, 15 — 13 ; Miss Mack and Eller beat Miss Gray and Reeves, 15—13: Miss Hayes and Quinnell beat Miss Coruish and Armstrong, 15 — 12. Semi-final : Miss W. Davis and Arden beat Miss Mack and Eller, 16 — 15. Final : Miss W. Davis and Arden beat Miss Hayes and Quinnell, 15 — 12. The following were some of the costumes noticed : — Miss Pearson, (Harem Skirt), Miss Parker (Bridge), Miss Alcovn (Night), Miss Davis (^lerry Widow), Miss Burton (Magpie), Miss Rothschild (Fortune Teller), Miss Hare* (Geisha), Mrs. Sampson (Good News£ Mrs. Ralph (Evening Post), Master Ralph' (Supplement}, Messrs.
