COFFEE PALACE DESTROYED.
fB2 TELEGRAPH — PRESS ASSOCIATION.] PAHIATUA, This Day. A fire at 2 a.m. destroyed a twostory building of eighteen rooms, u&ed as a boardinghouse and known as the Coffee Palace. The fire had a good grip when it .ras discovered — inmates escaped in night attire. Nothing else was saved and the building was burnt to the ground. The night was peifectly calm, and the brigade was able to save the adjoining houses. The building was owned by Jacob Siemonek, Mastc-rton, and occupied by Mrs. Mackay. The insurance en the building was £600 in the New Zealand, and on the furniture £350 in the same office, owner holding portion of latter risk. The occupants are heavy losers.
