THE KILLING OF A POLITICAL AGENT. EXCITEMENT CAUSED. • TROOPS BEING MOBILISED. >By- Telegraph.— Press Association.— Copyright, (Received April 11, 9 a.m.) CALCUTTA, 10th April. It transpires uiat Mr. Noel Williamson, the British political officer who 5 with his party, was murdered at Sadiya,, Assam, by tribesmen, had recently ordered the Abars, an independent tribe in the North of Lakhimpur district, to relinquish to the Miri tribesmen certain forests which they had seized, and return ■to the hills. The massacre has caused intense excitement in Upper Assam. It is believed it will have a most harmful effect • on the Dofflas and other tribes. Light horse and volunteers in the Assam Valley are mobilising. Twelve • hundred troops- are assembling at Sadiya. .1
