MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS IN CHRISTCHURCH.

NOT MUCH ENTHUSIASM. JjJX T2L.E3BAPH — SPECIAL TO THB POSX.I CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. The efforts to arouse public interest in the municipal elections are not proving particularly successful. The Mayoral contest seems to lie between Mr. C. Allison, the retiring Mayor, who is handicapped at present by ill-health, and Mr. T. E. Taylor, M.P. Probably Mr. Tavlor will win. The Labour candidate saTe making a vigorous bid for seats in the Council, but it has to be admitted that- they are, for the most part, untried men, not possessed even of local fame. If they win any successes at the polls they will have to tbank the careless inertia of the other side.
