MEETING OF THE NEW ZEALAND STEAM NAVIGATION COMPANY. THIS DAY

The adjourned meeting of this company was held to- day at the Athenseum, at two o'clock. Mr. Hunter took the chair, and read the circular culling the mcc ing, for taking the votes on the following resolutions, a poll having been demanded at the general meeting of shareholders held on the 23rd October last. Taking the votes, he said, would occupy about un hour, and then the poll would be declared. He wished the meeting to appoint two scrutineers, which he thought would be a satisfactory step. j Messrs. J. Woodward and A. P, Stuart were appointed scrutineers, ami retired to another room. At the expiration of a couple of hours these gentlemen returned with the result of their scrutiny, as follows : — Resolution Mo. 1. — That is it the opinion of this meeting that the affairs ot this Company be wound up t as soon as possible. For this resolution there were 34 for, and 1721 against. No. 2 — That the steamers Queen and Lady Bird be sold without reserve, having already cost the company more in repairs than their market value. For this resolution there were 320 for, and 1420 against. No. 3.— That it is the opinion of this meeting that the Directors of this company should be reduced to five, and the qualification for a director should be increased to 50 shares.
