DEATH OF ARCHDEACON KISSLING.
Wei egret to notice in our obituary column the demise of the Venerable and Reverend Archdeacon Kissling. Mr. Kissling was born in 1805, and studied at Basle University, and afterwards in 1827 proceeded to Liberia in connection with £he German Mission Society. From 1 Liberia he was removed to Sierra Leone in 1833, but his health failing he returned to England. In 1842 Mr. Kissling arrived in New Zealand, and during the then subsequent years had charge of the Mission Station at Hicks Bay ; from thence he was removed to Auckland, where the native chapels and their immediate neighbourhood were placed undt-r his charge. Subsequently Mr. Kissling took charge of !>t. i Stephen's institution and was advanced to i fie office of Archdeacon of Waitemata. For some time past the rev. gentleman has been suffering from ill- health, and, to the j regret of very many, for he was generally ! esteemed and respected, expired yesterday in his 60th year..— N.
