REWI AT THE HEAD OF 500 MEN. EXPECTED ATTACK ON THE SETTLEMENTS. REPORTED INSURRECTIONARY MOVEMENTS AT RAGLAN. (From the New Zealand Herald Sept. 8.) September 5.

Rewi, it is reported here, is at Hangitiki with some 400 or 500 rebels, deliberating whether he shall attack this district or go down to the Wanganui first. A clergyman residing at one of the outposts has, I am told, received a letter from him advising him to cleat* out before the attack. The removal of the 65th Regt. seems to have roused the rebels t j action, and I expect before long to hear a fresh disturbance in or about this district. All the men living inside the two redoubts turn out every morning under arms an hour before daylight, and patrols are sent round the settlements. The monthly muster, which was ordered for the let instant, was at the eleventh hour postponed to yesterday, and an extraordinary great muster day it was. The steamer Koheroa arrived yesterday evening, and brought tidings of the rebels breaking out of Raglan.
