WEST COAST.
The correspondent of the Canterbury Press, supplies information to tiie 17th inst. from Hokitika, from which we learn that Pyle'a party are out prospecting, with seven weeks' supply of provisions. About 500 men are on the Totara field ; some making from £5 to £10 per day, while others are only making "tucker ;" wages* £1 per day. Arahaura was the scene of a new rush last week. It is nine miles from the township of Hokitika. , The Grey is nearly deserted. Two lives have been lost at the Hokitika river by tin swamping of a boat. Only one of the bodies has been, found.
