BYE-LAWS. TJUBLIC MARKET — ERECTED ON X MARKET RESERVE. 1. The Market shall be open every day except Sunday, biiween the houss of seven o'clock in the morning and seven o'clock in the evening, except Saturday, when it fhall be kept open till ten o'clock in the evening. 2. No person to deposit any filth or dirt in any part of the market. 3. All horned cattle to be safely secured in the stockyard erected for that purpose. All sheep, lambs, and swine to be secured in the pens erected for that purpose. 4. Any damage done to any of the stockyards or pens to be niade good by the owner of the animals or stock occasioning such damage. 5. All horses, mules, or asses to be safely secured inside the market with halters unless they are secured in the stockyard. 6. All persons renting stalls to put up at their own expense such fittings as they may require, but not to damage the building. 7. For the use of any stall in the market the person occuping the same shall pay a monthly rent, in advance, of one pound sterling per calendar month. 8. The owne- of any horned cattle entering the market to pay the sum of sixpence per head for all above six months ; under that age, three pence per head. 9. The owner of any horse, mare, gelding, mule, or ass, entering the market for sale, to pay the sum of one shilling per head. 10. The owner of any sheep or lambs entering the market to pay twopence per head. 11. The owner of any swine (except sucking pigs) entering the market, to pay three pence per head ; sucking pigs, one penny per head. 12. The owner of any cart, waggon, or other vehicle entering the market laden with wool, grain, hay, straw, wares, merchandise, or other marketable commodities, shall pay the sum of two shillings and sixpence sterling. All vehicles laden with produce for sale by holders of stalls within the Market Hall will be admitted free. 13. The owner of any dray, cart, or other vehicle, or agricultural implement, or article of husbandry, entering the market for sale, shall pay the sum of one shilling for each article. 14. The owner of any stock, produce, or merchandise, entering the market, shall be required to remove the said stock, &c, or cause the same to be taken away before the closing of the market on the day on which such stock, produce, or merchandise shall have so entered the market ; and any stock, produce, or merchandise, remaining in the market beyond the hour of closing on the day on which it entered the market, will be at the risk of the owner, and will be liable to pay the rents, tolls, dues, or fees, for every day it so remains, except in the case of merchandise deposited in the stalls, which will also be at the risk of the owners of the same. 13. Any propiietor who may have property in the market for sale may, if he thinks fit, cause the same to be sold by public auction in the open yards, but not in the Market Hall, atter one o'clock, of which public notice may be given in the market by the public crier. 16. Penalty for the breach of any bye-law, rule, order, or regulation, any Bum not exceeding five pounds, at the discretion of the magistrates, in accordance with Clause 41, Market Act, No 12, Session 1. 17. The Commissioners reserve to themselves the power to make special laws and regulations relating to any agricultural or horiticultural shows, or any occasion for which the market may be required.
