THE " EXPIREE " SO CIETY.
The following letter, from a prisoner in Melbourne gaol, is addressed to Dr. Youl :—: — Her Majesty's Gaol, llth January, 1865. To the Visiting Justice of H.M. Gaol. Sir,— I beg respectfully to thank you for your kind interest in me, and to inform you
of my willingness and readiness to be forwarded to England by the " Expiree" Society. I have been thirty-four yenrs in these colonies. I arrived a prisoner to Van Diemen's Land in April, 1830, per ship Mary, of London. I hnve been nineteen years in Victoria, out of which time I have brpn in gaol fourteen years. I arrived in Van Diemen's Land under a sentence of life, and under my present name. Should you deem that th-? society will consider me as one deserving their notice, I beg you to use this letter to any purpose you may think fil, nnd I would also ask for your kind interference in my behalf. I have the honor to be, sir, your very humble, grateful servant, Titos. Jones.
