A reduction in the retail price of meat is advertised. A social in aid of the school prize fund is to be held at Brookside next Friday night. Mr G. W. Purser, Leeston, has been gazetted a Justice of the Peace. The Ellesmere Brass Band resumes practice on Tuesday, March 15. \ The welcome home social to CapMf tain and Mrs Chard, of the Salva~T tion.Army, is to be held on Friday week, not next Friday as previously announced.. On Saturday next, in their land salerooms, Christchurch, the Farmers' Co-op. will offer for sale two blocks of land at Killinchy in the estate of the late T. Tolerton. This land is well known and should find a ready sale. A social and dance will be held the Leeston Town Hall to-night y')'jy the Leeston Bowling, Tennis . and Croquet Club. The proceeds will go towards the cost of furnishing the bazaar stalls. It is interesting to note that the cost of re-valuing the land in the Ellesmere county and improvements thereon was £555 18s. The County Council has to bear onethird of the cost. The Farmers' Co-operative Association will offer at Leeston sale next Friday a specially good line cf yearling Friesian cattle and a yearling Friesian bull. Farmers on the look out for good sorts would be well advised to see these cattle.
