SOUTHBRIDGE LAWN TENNIS CLUB.
The annual meeting of the above Club was held on Thursday evening in ! the • ; Hotel. There was a limited attendance. The Fev E. Whitehouse was voted to the chair, Tl|e Secretary, Dr Withers, presented th< i report. Inter alia it showed that thn Clnb had purchased the sections on wlich the Court stands at a cheaper r»i« than was originally_anticipatecl, via £$0 10s. It furtji*,) suggested the formation of a second asphalt court. !The Treasurer, Mr Simp-son, brought forward the balance sheet, showing the [ receipts for the year to have been £14 9s 6rf ; the expenditure, £16 9s 2d. The credit balance was £29 3s 4d, Of. this however) £22'iajsjha* |o be j>ajd at cjnce for the section, leaving '£6 18s- 4d to the Club's credit. The report and balance sheet we e adopted. On motion of Dr Withers, a hearty vote of thanks was passed to Messrs Tzard and Loughnan for Jbheir acceptable donation of a guinea and a half to the Club's funds. A committee consisting of Dr Wit« hers, Messrs Frame and Porter, was appointed to consider cost, etc., of a new asphalt court, and report at a special general meeting shortly. ! ;•■ t ; < ! The entrance fee was reduced from ids 6d to 5s ; the annual subscription to| 10s instead of 10s6d, ' Persons residing more than four miles from the Court and wishing tojoin, will- nut be oharged any entrance fee. : The f ollowjmj office, ra were elected :— Patron, Sir Joan "Hair; President^ £>. McMillan Esq.; Vice Presidents, Messrs W. Maddison and A. R. Inwjjod ; Treasurer, Mr W. A. Simpson j Secretary, Dr Wftfiers ; Committee, liev. E. Whitehouse, Messrs Porter, Grates, Frame, Marquand aud Starry ; Relegate to the Jj$ v Association, Dr Withers. i These gentlemen were re-elected, all having held office last year. ; r; .-, ... On motion of Dr Withers, the thanks of the Club were tendered to; the ladies Who bad provided tea and luncheon dtirinqf the past season, and also to the i Club's officers. It was decided to appbibfc 5 a Match. Committee ; selection of the Committee W*s held over until next, meeting. j The meeting then terminated.
